Geo-Wives
The Oklahoma City Geologists` Wives was organized September 1921, the founders being Mrs. Ben Baldwin, Mrs. Forrest Wimbish, Mrs. D.J. Costa and Mrs. Wayne Abbott. Membership is open to those whose husbands are practicing geologists or who hold a degree in geology, or who belong to the Oklahoma City Geological Society or the AAPG and all women practicing geologists, or who hold a degree in geology.
On first Friday of each month the Wives meet for lunch and bridge or canasta at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club, for the period of September through June. They close the season with a dinner dance for husbands and friends. Membership dues are $2 a year.
A night group of Wives was organized in March 1949, by Mrs. Joe Sears - with husbands to be baby-sitters! Mrs. Margaret Smith was first hostess chairman, with Mrs. Ed Unger being hostess chairman for the coming season. This group meets on the third Monday of each month at the Biltmore Hotel, at 7:30 o`clock, for dessert and bridge.
