POSITION DESCRIPTION
 
POSITION TITLE: Geologist

DEPARTMENT: Geology

POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for geological planning, support and operations for development targeting the Mississippian Lime formation in Kansas.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
    Generate drilling locations for the exploration and development of leasehold position.
     
    Provide geologic support for drilling program.

    Provide recommendations for lease acquisitions.

    Develop Kansas Mississippian Lime geological model.

    Coordinate with 3rd party vendors/consultants in support of drilling operations.
     
    Monitor offset Mississippian Lime activity.

    Provide geological costs for AFE's.

    Interpret well logs.

    Generate maps and cross sections.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:
 
    5-20+ years job related experience.
     
    Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.

    Daily teamwork and effective collaboration with employees inside and outside department to obtain cooperation and approval on the solutions to complex problems.

    Regular communication with external contacts to discuss well defined services/procedures, while always remaining courteous.
    
    Sound judgment and interpretation skills required.
     
    Petra would be a plus for a candidate, however we are willing to train the right candidate.
    
EDUCATION OR LICENSES REQUIRED:
 
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology or Geosciences, Masters preferred.

PHYSICAL/SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Standing, bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to and including 20 lbs. may be required.
 
OTHER: Conformance with the standards of conduct, attendance policies and grooming policies are essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with regular violations of company guidelines will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Geophysical Analyst

Job Description:
 
 
The Geophysical Analyst position will provide support to Division Services by indexing geophysical data into the Trango database and loading data to the Master Seismic Repository.  Work as a team member of the Division Services group to ensure a high level of customer service to Geoscience Departments while maintaining the security of Devon's geophysical assets.  The Analyst is required to follow and adapt to Seismic Source standards and procedures as well as Administrative Services Group (ASG) processes and guidance, which will originate from multiple sources. 
 
  • Work as a team member and aid in delivering on priorities with the business facing analysts and leadership for incoming geophysical data
     
  • Work to collect metadata, attributes and repair geophysical data into the Trango database in support of the Geosciences and ASG Departments.
     
  • Research and verify data upon delivery and check quality prior to loading into Trango
     
  • Communicate task results performed by the Analyst and summarize activities, which could impact data consumers.
     
  • Initiate transmittals and supports business facing analysts with work orders though the Trango database.
     
  • Coordinate with the Oklahoma City Records Facility Data Analyst to ensure retrieval and return of assigned data to and from the facility.
     
  • Become proficient in the Gate Keeping (Data Loading) role -including how to use various tools to load geophysical data into the Master Seismic Repository and report quality issues.
     
  • Data Management tasks as requested by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Windows MS Office applications, demonstrated willingness to learn new software.
     
  • Basic understanding of hardware technology and various platforms including workstations, desktops, laptops and printers
