Welcome to the Oklahoma City Geological Society

We are the OCGS

The Oklahoma City Geological Society, Inc. (OCGS) is made up of Geo-Scientists located around the globe. The majority of our members live in Oklahoma City and the surrounding area. Among other things, the OCGS maintains a major repository of geological data in our library, publishes the "Shale Shaker" Magazine, and hosts numerous educational and social functions. The Oklahoma City Geologists Wives are an important adjunct to our society.

Watch this page for announcements and news of our organization. Check out the Events Calender page to find out When, What and Where.

The Library and offices of the Oklahoma City Geological Society are located on the 9th floor of the center building of the First National Center. Take the "C" elevators located midway on the mall to the 9th floor. Our address is:

44th FORUM ON THE GEOLOGY OF INDUSTRIAL MINERALS

New Page 1

The Oklahoma Geological Survey is hosting the 44th Forum on the Geology of Industrial Minerals in Midwest City, Oklahoma, May 11-16, 2008. Oklahoma is the first state to host the Forum for a third time.

The Forum advances the geology of industrial minerals and their practical applications. Topics cover a wide range including geology and geography of industrial mineral deposits, their responsible development, and new techniques in exploration and development.

Three days of technical sessions along with 6 technical field trips and social events allow participants to exchange ideas in both formal and casual settings as they become familiar with geologic resources in the Mid-continent. A guest program visits cultural and historic points of interest in Oklahoma. The conference banquet is at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum on May 14.
