Committee Descriptions

EDUCATION COMMITTEE:

  • Plan, schedule, and execute educational events
  • Education events will include: Monthly Discussion Group, Technical Luncheons, Dinner Meetings, field trips and any other educational event including those scheduled with the Oklahoma Geological Survey and AAPG
  • Present/recommend the budgets for Educational Events
  • Present financial summaries for each event

GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE:

  • Provide a slate of Officers and Directors to the Membership at the Annual Meeting or other meeting where an election is to take place
  • Provide ongoing counsel to the Board President and other Officers on enhancing board effectiveness
  • Take steps to recruit and prepare future Directors

MEMBERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE:

  • Actively recruit new members
  • Strive to increase membership by working with other committees such as Education, Social, and Library Committees
  • Attract participation of newly established companies in the area and the inclusion of academia, hydrogeologists and other non-oil and gas geo professionals
  • Update membership materials

PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE:

  • Perform or ensure the fulfillment of duties of the Editor, including such functions as publishing, marketing, sales, and layout and design
  • Ensure the Shale Shaker is published and distributed to membership in a timely manner

SOCIAL COMMITTEE:

  • Plan, organize and execute social events throughout the calendar year
  • Present/recommend the budgets for individual events

FINANCE COMMITTEE

  • Oversee the financial stability and administration of the Society
  • Review fiscal summaries at least quarterly but generally monthly
  • Aid the staff and Treasurer in creation of the annual budget
  • Present/recommend the budget to the Board for approval
